Eden Jazz Fest!
Eden, North Carolina - October 2011!
The first Eden Jazz Fest will take place at Freedom Park on
October 1, 2011 at 121 N. Edgewood Road, Eden, NC.
As this is the first year, Eden Jazz Fest is looking to our
community to be part of the success. We are inviting businesses
to market themselves through sponsorships and participation in
the festival. Along with the great jazz performances, the
festival will be an opportunity for vendors- businesses, arts
and crafts and fantastic foods!
Performances will take place every hour and a half starting at 12:00PM until
8:30PM. The acts are very diverse and include: 16 piece big bands, local jazz combos, and regional jazz combos.
Headlining the Eden Jazz Fest and performing with the group “Real Jazz” will be international recording artist and legendary trombonist, Curtis Fuller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/curtis_Fuller). He is the only trombonist to have recorded with John Coltrane, Jimmie Smith and Bud Powell. Curtis Fuller’s stature among the world’s jazz community will enable the festival to reach out to North Carolina’s Triad and Triangle regions as well as southern Virginia. This is where Rockingham County will really shine; with all its municipalities and entities working together to show people within and outside its borders all that it has to offer.
Between acts there will be great raffles with proceeds going
towards the kid’s music lesson project, helping to support music
in our community and schools, acknowledgment of our affiliates,
sponsors and vendors. There will be plenty of interesting arts
and crafts to check out and/or purchase . In regards to food,
there will be an array of ethnic and traditional foods to choose
from.
Another unique component to the Eden Jazz Fest is that starting at
8:30PM there will be an “after fest party” at Santana’s restaurant, located at 436 East Stadium Drive, Eden, NC. There, the festivities will continue with more live jazz. Everyone from attendees, to sponsors, vendors, staff, and performers are invited to mingle. Who knows? Maybe an epic jam session will ensue. One thing is for sure though, one can’t go wrong listening to great music, eating good food, and interacting with nice people, especially while contributing to a great cause. |
